Frank and Jordan Snodgrass Lead Luci Qualifying
Frank and Jordan Snodgrass tallied a 3,150 (+350) total pinfall for their 14 combined games to lead qualifying in the 2025 Storm PBA/PWBA Striking Against Breast Cancer Mixed Doubles tournament.
The tournament is more commonly called “The Luci” in honor of Luci Bonneau, a long-time PWBA Tour player and close friend of SABC founder Donna Conners.
Frank shot 1,598 for his seven games on the 41-foot oil pattern. Jordan, a six-time PWBA Tour champion and former Player of the Year, added 1,552.
This is the couple’s second year competing together, but their first with the same name on their jerseys after getting married last September.
“I feel like everybody has this stigma on bowling with husband and wife (teams), but I feel like we prove that you can do it,” Jordan said. “We can separate the relationship from the bowling aspect and that's really hard to do sometimes, but I feel like we manage it pretty well.”
“She travels with me whenever I bowl, and I travel with her when she bowls,” Frank added, “We get an understanding of how each other are on the lanes while we're bowling. Being able to pair that together makes it a lot easier.”
This year marks the tournament’s 25th anniversary. Since the first event in 2000, the X Out Breast Cancer Foundation has raised more than one million dollars in the fight against breast cancer.
The cause is extra special to Frank Snodgrass.
“This tournament means a lot to me. My mom passed away from breast cancer. This event holds a special place in my heart,” he said.
The teams of Andrew Anderson and Erin McCarthy — who led the first day of qualifying — siblings Nick Pate and Lauren Russo, Ethan Fiore and Clara Guerrero, and Darren Tang and Li Jane Sin round out the top five after qualifying.
Four-time Luci champions Tommy Jones and Shannon Pluhowsky qualified 20th at +155.
EJ Tackett, who is in pursuit of the PBA’s single-season average record, and Diandra Asbaty are in 25th place at +121. The duo won the 2022 event. After a qualifying total of 1,462, Tackett will need to shoot at least 1,049 in the semifinals and 3,802 through the finals to regain control of the record.
Two-time defending champions Anthony Simonsen and Danielle McEwan sit in 28th place at +116.
The top 40 teams after Saturday’s two squads will advance to the semifinals on Sunday.
Another married couple, Brandon and Alexis Runk, were the final team to make the cut with a total pinfall of 2,862 (+62).
Full standings are available here.
The four-game semifinal round begins at 8 a.m. Central/local (9 a.m. Eastern) time on Sunday.
The top 12 teams will advance to round-robin match play with rounds beginning at 11:30 a.m. and 3 p.m. CT. The team with the highest pinfall after match play wins. There is no stepladder finals.
Across all rounds, players will bowl singles games with combined scores comprising the team total. There are no baker doubles games.
All rounds will be livestreamed on BowlTV.
More information on the event is available on the Striking Against Breast Cancer website and Facebook page.
