Allen was an established lefthanded bowler long before such lefties as Hall of Famers Earl Anthony, Dave Davis and Johnny Petraglia distinguished themselves on tour. It didn't take Allen long to make his mark as one of the top bowlers in the early days of the PBA circuit. After a pair of winless years in 1961 and '62, Allen erupted for three titles in 1963, when he earned $19,358. He added four more titles in 1964, two in '65 and four in his best year, 1968, when his money winnings peaked at $42,125. He is one of only six players to win back-to-back PBA titles three times during his career, turning the trick in 1964, 1965 and 1968. In his first eight years as a pro bowler, Allen won 13 titles and $149,497. Finished with $225,670 in career PBA Tour money.
