Fort Sill, Okla.,– Jakob Butturff from Tempe, Ariz. extended his PBA Regional title wins to 23 overall after winning the 11th annual PBA Fort Sill Southwest Open on Sunday at Twin Oaks Bowling Center.

Butturff’s win comes as no surprise as he took an early lead during the eight games of qualifying and extended it through the five game Cashier’s Round.

As match play progressed, Butturff did watch his comfortable cushion start to dwindle as Travis Tribolet, from San Angelo, Texas, who qualified in 10th place, bowled games of 265, 256, 289 x2, 251, and 247 prior to the final game position round.

Tribolet won his eighth match, 227-211, but fell short of catching Butturff who held onto a 93-pin lead and dominated the field with a 240.9 average for the tournament.

Butturff earned $3,000 for first place, while Tribolet earned $1,800 for second and scored his best finish to date. Reigning PBA Southwest Region Player of the Year, Anthony Lavery-Spahr, of Pasadena, Texas, took home $1,300 for third place, and Amarillo, Texas’ Mason Edmondson collected $1,100 for fourth place.

The Southwest Region’s next event is the PBA Liberal Kansas Southwest Open on September 18-20, at Ayr’s Lanes with a first-place prize of $4,000. Hilltop Lanes in Waxahachie, Texas, will host a PBA50 regional event September 25-27.
