Weber Stands Pat On 21

Continuing the top-notch form he had shown in recent months, Dick Weber came back from the brink of defeat, including an escape from a tie game, to take the Denver Open. Second behind Tim Harahan going into the playoffs, Weber knotted Jim Godman, 204-204, in regulation play, then won a two-frame rolloff, 49-40, to move in against leader Harahan.

Weber clinched his 183-173 triumph over his younger adversary, after losing his lead on splits in the seventh and eighth frames. Harahan, however, trying for his fourth PBA triumph, left a costly 6-7 in the eighth and went down to defeat. For Weber, it was PBA victory No. 21.
