Bill Tucker, of Los Angeles shaded a close-matched field to win his first PBA start since early in 1966 in the El Paso Open.
The final count showed Tucker scoring a 204-203 win over Bobby Cooper in the championship fray as the first five men finished within 200 pins of each other.
Jim Godman led the 24-game qualifier but finished sixth when he won only seven of his 16 match games. Tucker's 12 victories, three losses and a tie was tops for the tourney.
