Mike Machuga Earns Day 2 Lead in the 2026 USBC Senior Masters
Las Vegas, Nevada – The qualifying scores remain high at the 2026 USBC Senior Masters. Mike Machuga added 1,234 total pins on Wednesday to his first day score of 1,252 to move into first place overall.
The Erie, Pa. resident at one point was 67th on the waiting list for the tournament. Less than a week ago, he learned he would be in the main field seeking a major title in his first year on the PBA50 Tour. The right-hander is taking full advantage of this opportunity. He had 49 clean frames out of 50 with games of 217, 256, 258, 246 and 257. His 10-game qualifying total of 2,486 gives him an average of 248.6.
Andy Neuer, who was the leading qualifier on Tuesday, dropped down to second place. He is 15 pins behind Machuga. Parker Bohn III ended his day with a 278 game for a total of 2,449. He is in third place followed by two more lefties Brian Hoffman and Michael Hartter in the top five.
The highest blocks on the day came from two Texas residents who each bowled 300. Hoffman shot 223, 269, 280, 300 and 207 for 1,279. Chris Warren had a 300 in his 1,276 block to move into sixth place. Fellow Texan Chris Barnes added the only 800 series in the event so far with an 802. Defending champion Tom Daugherty made a huge jump. He went from 91st place to 15th after going +231 for the day to get to 2,348.
The final day of qualifying on Thursday gets underway with C-squad at 11 a.m. Eastern followed by A-squad at 3 p.m. and B-squad at 7 p.m. The top 64 bowlers will advance to double-elimination match-play scheduled to begin on Friday.
