John Janawicz Extends Lead at PBA50 The Villages Classic
The Villages, Florida – Piling on the pins and getting more intel. John Janawicz was able to do just that on the final day of qualifying at the 2026 PBA50 The Villages Classic.
He relied on stronger equipment and made bigger moves than day one, and the overall results were pretty similar. He averaged 251.5 over six games on Wednesday for a two-day total pinfall of 3,021. He had games of 257, 259, 278, 247, 233 and 235 for 1,509.
“I basically played the same zone on the lane but had to use stronger bowling balls. As a result, the field did a bit of the same, so it changed a little bit faster and we had to move in a lot faster,” Janawicz said. “I try to see the picture faster. If the lane gives you seven boards to play with down the lane, I want to try to do everything I can from a technique and equipment and angle standpoint to maximize all seven boards and not have to walk a tight rope down the lane.”
Janawicz added, “Whether you are leading a tournament or not, there are always things that you can clean up a little bit more. I am going to keep working hard.”
Behind Janawicz in second place is Troy Lint at 2,855. Despite a 158 in game three, Lint averaged 263.8 for five games to climb up the leaderboard. Tom Daugherty jumped into third place with 2,845. He is followed by Brian Leclair with 2,804 and James Campbell in fifth at 2,793.
The final two spots in the top 48 went to Mike Preston and Jason Couch who tied at 2,504. They will all bowl four games in the Advancers Round starting at 9 a.m. Eastern on Thursday. After that, the top 24 will move into best-of-three bracket match play where all pins will drop.
The top eight will receive a bye in the Round of 24, which is scheduled to start at 12:30 p.m. After the Round of 8, the four winners and the highest eliminated qualifier will be in the stepladder finals set to begin at 6 p.m. You can watch all of the action on BowlTV.
