John Janawicz Holds Significant Lead at Bud Moore PBA50 Players Championship
Woodbridge, Virginia – After 16 games of round-robin match play on Tuesday, John Janawicz more than tripled his previous 173-pin lead after posting a 12-4 record. With his 360 bonus points added to his score, his lead is now 564 pins over Michael Haugen Jr. in second place at the 2025 Bud Moore PBA50 Players Championship.
“The biggest difference was a lot of different people trying some different things and the scoring pace lowered more than anything else. Some were playing outside, some were playing a little further in,” Janawicz said. “It made the pair-to-pair a little tougher and more challenging today.”
Janawicz has always been a firm believer in never looking back just keep pressing forward. With eight more round-robin matches to go, he is focused on what he needs to do to put himself in the best position to defend his title at the first major championship on the schedule.
“I played further right today, which actually worked out pretty good,” he said. “I am going to continue to explore that with a few different balls, maybe we can find something a little bit better.”
Behind Haugen Jr. is Amleto Monacelli, Dino Castillo and Bill Rowe in the top five. Rowe climbed from 10th place to fifth. After a 1-7 match play start in the morning, Tom Daugherty won seven matches in the afternoon to go from 18th to 10th.
The final eight games of round-robin match play begin at 9 a.m. on Wednesday to determine the top five for the stepladder finals schedule to begin at 7 p.m. on Wednesday. The finals will be held inside the home of tournament sponsor Bill Moore. Watch the last day of this major tournament only on BowlTV.
