
No. 1 seed Parker Bohn III undefeated in USBC Senior Masters
Las Vegas, Nevada – Parker Bohn III seems to be on a mission. Last week, he watched his son, Brandon, win the U22 Masters for the second straight year. This week, he is creating his own magical run.
During the first day of double-elimination match-play in the 2025 USBC Senior Masters on Friday, he defeated defending champion Jon Rakoski 751-600 then Pete Weber 696-600 inside Sam’s Town Bowling Center to advance in the winner’s bracket. As the top seed, Bohn III is on the left side of the winner’s bracket, and he will face #16 Anthony Crews starting at noon on Saturday.
Fresh off of his first national senior title on Sunday at the 2025 USBC Super Senior Masters, #24 James Campbell won his first two matches, including a close one against Amleto Monacelli 736-718. Campbell will bowl against #40 Michael Haggitt. The winner of that match will bowl the winner of Bohn III vs. Crews.
Fifth seed Mika Koivuniemi rolled through both of his matches with 693 and 709. He will face #44 Anthony “Tony” Franklin. The winner of that match will face the winner of #13 Ricky Schissler against #61 Butch Cormier. Cormier had one of the biggest upsets of the day when he knocked #4 John Janawicz into the contender’s bracket with a 643-641 win.
On the right side of the winner’s bracket, #62 Dave Paffumi defeated #3 Tom Adcock 770-750 and remained on fire as he defeated #30 Tom Hess 713-697. He will now face #51 Michael Hartter. Number 11 Andy Neuer shot 762 and 776 to win his first two matches to now face #6 George Aboud. The winner of that match will face the winner of Paffumi vs. Hartter.
The final two winner’s bracket matches will include #39 Patrick Shipley against #55 Brian Link and #15 Don Smith against #2 Tom Daugherty. Smith shot 751 and 737 to win his matches, while Daugherty had 729 and 660 in his USBC Senior Masters debut.
In the first round of the contender’s elimination bracket, #64 Rakoski shot 792 for a win then he was eliminated from the tournament. Janawicz posted 742 and 753 for back-to-back wins to remain in the bracket. There were perfect games by Dan Knowlton, Amleto Monacelli and Chris Martinez all in the contender’s bracket. Monacelli and Martinez are still competing.
Contender’s bracket matches are #46 Frank Guccione vs. #25 Chris Martinez, #30 Tom Hess vs. #38 Chad Nelson, #28 Craig Auerbach vs. #4 John Janawicz, #12 Steve Kloempken vs. #31 Andres Gomez, #3 Tom Adcock vs. #9 Amleto Monacelli, #19 Trent Marner vs. #54 Josh Hale, #53 Mitch Beasley vs. #45 Clay Rees, #37 Brian Dennis vs. #47 Curtis Woods.
There are 16 players left in the winner’s bracket and 16 players in the contender’s bracket. They will all take to the lanes starting at noon Eastern on Saturday followed by more bowling throughout the day. All bracket matches are three-game total-pinfall with the winners advancing until the top five are determined for the stepladder finals that will take place at 1 p.m. Eastern on Sunday.
