Parker Bohn III wins 2025 PBA60 Webb Championship
Columbus, Ohio – Parker Bohn III added a new title to his historic bowling resume on Thursday. He threw 17 strikes out of 22 attempts with games of 255 and 257 to win his first PBA60 title in the inaugural PBA60 Webb Championship, as part of Wayne Webb's PBA60 World Series of Bowling. The smooth left-hander came into bracket match play in 14th place and relied on urethane to get the win, during the stepladder finals inside Wayne Webb’s Columbus Bowl.
“I don’t know what to think about that one yet. I think on my driver’s license somebody is lying to me, but it says I am legal to bowl,” Bohn said. “The fact that it is my first PBA60 win; you never forget your first. I remember the first regional I won, the first PBA national title, my first PBA50 Tour title, and by all means, I will remember my first PBA60 Tour event, as well.”
In the championship match against No. 1 seed Chris Warren, Bohn III was able to capitalize on how he set up the lanes for himself rolling eight straight strikes for a commanding lead. He was clenching his left fist and walking out several of those shots. His deliveries on the left lane were flush and on the right lane he benefitted from a few lighter hits.
“I was fortunate that I got a couple of good breaks there on the right lane when the ball literally took out the 5-6-10 two times in a row and it almost did it again. That is why I had to have a little fun looking at Chris and I said, ‘I am making a living on that shot,’” he joked.
The 10-pin was left standing on the right lane in the ninth frame and Bohn III failed to convert it. He stepped up in the 10th needing a mark to shut out Warren, who at that point had five straight strikes.
“Business as usual. Try to get up in the 10th and make another good pass, although it was a little bit firm. Took a piece of tape out of the thumb, made the spare (3-5-6), filled the frame and threw a good shot on the fill ball,” Bohn III said. “It was making the spare that made all of the difference. No, I don’t want to shoot the 3-5-6, when I need a mark to win, especially after I missed the spare on the right lane.”
Bohn III and Warren hugged and then Warren struck out for 248. He is looking forward to celebrating the win with his family in a few weeks, but he needed to eat some mint chocolate chip ice cream first, and bowl a few more events over the next couple of days, too. Bohn will also be spending time on the Fourth of July with his buddy, Matthew, and his family, who are supporting him this week.
“Certainly, looking forward to the next two events. I have got somewhat of a reasonable start. I would like to have more but there is still a lot of bowling left,” Bohn III said. “Every step of the way you want to garnish as many pins as possible. Today is over at least in my eyes, so that now I can focus on what I need to do tomorrow.”
In his semifinal match against fellow left-hander Skip Pavone, Bohn struck on his first shot, picked up a 3-pin then struck seven straight times before testing out a few shots in the 10th for 255. Pavone had three opens in the first five frames, ending up with 180.
Pavone was able to earn his way into that match when it seemed like he was going to finish in fourth place. His opponent, No. 5 seed Amleto Monacelli started the match with a spare followed by six consecutive strikes before leaving the 6-7-10 split in the eighth frame for an open followed by a strike in the ninth. Pavone missed a 7-pin in the third frame followed by three strikes and a spare in the seventh. Pavone was able to close out the match with five straight strikes for 237. Monacelli stepped up needing a strike for the win in the 10th yet left the 4-8 for the 221 loss.
In the opening match, Monacelli got the fireworks started early. He was unstoppable using urethane as he slammed the pocket almost every shot on the way to a perfect 300 against Robert Lawrence, who shot 216. Warren, Bohn III, Pavone and Lawrence were seeds 13-16 starting the day and made it into the stepladder.
