
Qualifying Underway in 2025 Storm Lucky Larsen Masters

The Storm Lucky Larsen Masters, the final title event of the 2025 PBA Tour, is underway in Helsingborg, Sweden. This is the lone international title event of the year.
Native Swede Jesper Svensson will look to defend his title as multiple squads compete each day from Aug. 22-30.
The advancer, match play and championship rounds will take place Sunday, Aug. 31.
All rounds will be livestreamed on the Storm Lucky Larsen Masters YouTube channel.
Qualifying has concluded. The 55 advancing players to Sunday’s competition can be found here.
Final Step 1, the first of two advancer rounds, will begin at 2 a.m. Eastern on Sunday, Aug. 31. Final Step 2 will begin at 4:50 a.m. ET with the top 16 players advancing to match play.
Match play rounds will begin at 8:40 a.m. ET. The championship match will be held at 2:30 p.m. ET.

AJ Johnson (1,309), the 2023 SLLM champion, and Dom Barrett (1,299) punched their tickets to the next round in the final squad.
Sweden’s Emanul Jonsson earned the final berth in the top-40 cut with 1,295. Fifteen additional qualifiers advanced to Final Step 1, which are outlined here.
Defending champion Jesper Svensson did not make the cut. His highest series was 1,254.
Kyle Troup, one week after celebrating his marriage, posted the new high series of the event.
The 2021 PBA Player of the Year shot games of 235, 256, 236, 257, 228 and 251 to tally a 1,463 (+163) total pinfall. That series will net Troup a bye to Final Step 2, along with the other top 25 qualifiers.
The 2022 SLLM champion, Mathias Ankerdal of Denmark, moved himself into position, though a tedious one with two squads to go, for a bye into Final Step 2 with 1,324.
Finland’s Kaaron Salomaa (1,320) and the United States’ Alec Keplinger (1,311) also moved inside the cut with impressive performances.
Finland’s Niko Oksanen joined Trevor Roberts in the 1,400-club with a score of 1,404. Oksanen started his squad with 299, the highest game of the event thus far.
Kyle Troup squeaked into the current cut with a score of 1,291, but said he will bowl at least one more squad on Aug. 30 to try and improve that score.
Aruba’s Yannick Roos started slow with games of 198, 169 and 174, but rallied with a stellar finish (223, 269, 267) to reach 1,300.
Three American touring players rounded out the top four in Eric Jones, AJ Johnson and Andrew Hall, though none were able to improve upon their previous best score.
Ethan Fiore’s lead was no more after fellow Tampa-area native Trevor Roberts blew past Fiore’s score. With games of 236, 289, 214, 237, 223 and 245, Roberts tallied a new tournament-leading score of 1,444 (+244).
Finland’s Juho Rissanen and honorary Swede Andrew Anderson each averaged more than 228 to leap into prime position in the SLLM. Rissanen led the squad with 1,372 as Anderson trailed by three pins.
Justin Knowles shot 1,316 to move himself inside the current cut.
Italy’s Tommaso Radi’s squad-leading 1,291 won’t earn a bye to Final Step 2, but the score did get him into the top-40 cut through Squad 20.
Two-handed Nora Johansson took the women’s lead with 1,234.
American lefty Eric Jones put up his best effort in Helsingborg, notching a 1,331 series to lead the fourth squad of Aug. 28. The two-handed Oklahoma native put up six scores above 200. Canada’s Nathan Ruest-Lajoie wasn’t far behind with 1,322.
The 2023 SLLM champion AJ Johnson tallied an 1,168 series. His best squad total so far is 1,219 and will look to improve upon that score in at least one more squad this week.
England’s Raymond Teece, the brother of PBA Tour champion Richie, surged into the overall top 10 with a squad-best 1,355 pinfall. Canadian François Lavoie’s 1,327 series marked his best of the event thus far.
Four players averaged north of 220 on this squad, the most of any squad thus far in the event.
Sweden’s Joachim Karlsson (1,380) and Denmark’s Thomas Larsen (1,376) led the squad and moved into second and third place overall, respectively. Germany’s Sandro Brandt (1,327) and the United States’ Andrew Hall (1,320) also tallied their best totals of the SLLM.
Ethan Fiore bested his own tournament-leading score, tallying a 1,393 series. Two Canadians, Mathis Blanchette (1,341) and Nathan Ruest-Lajoie (1,279), rounded out the squad’s podium finishers. Blanchette moved into the top 10 overall.
A low-scoring squad saw just two players average more than 200: Andrew Hall (1,250) and Santtu Tahvanainen (1,233). Finland’s Tahvanainen won the PBA Owen’s Illinois Classic for his first career PBA Tour title earlier this season.
Ethan Fiore struggled in his first SLLM squad, posting a 1,160 series in Squad 12. He bounced back in a big way on Wednesday, Aug. 27’s first squad.
Fiore posted a 1,379 series to not only lead his squad by 113 pins, but take the tournament’s overall lead.
Nate Purches, the 2024 Harry Golden PBA Rookie of the Year, rode the rollercoaster to lead his squad with a 1,363 total pinfall. He shot games of 210, 249, 194, 258, 186 and 266 to surge into fifth place overall.
Defending champion and native Sweden Jesper Svensson completed his first squad, totalling 1,236. The Iceman will return to the lanes in hopes of mounting a title defense.
Ryan Barnes and Sean Rash shot into the overall top three on Tuesday morning. Barnes, who shot 1,374, finished one pin shy of Tun Hakim’s leading score. Rash tallied 1,367 himself, while Sweden’s Kevin Melin notched 1,353.

Denmark’s Jesper Agerbo outpaced the United States’ Chase Nadeau by four pins to lead the second squad on Aug. 25. Four PBA Tour players — Chase Nadeau (+92), Andrew Hall (+68), Sean Rash (+65) and Nate Purches (+18) — finished top 10 on this squad.
Rising Swedish star Nora Johansson, who became the first two-handed player to make a PWBA Tour stepladder finals last month, finished sixth with a 1,227 series.
Germany’s Dario Stein jumped into second place overall with a 1,366 (+166) series, highlighted by a 286 in Game 4.
The influx of PBA Tour players began in Squad 10 as Andrew Anderson (+121) and François Lavoie (+100) cracked the top-10 overall.
Malaysia's Tun Hakim closed out the tournament’s opening weekend with a 1,375 series to take the overall lead on Sunday, Aug. 24. Hakim won the PBA Chameleon Championship earlier this year to become the first player from Malaysia to win a PBA Tour title.
Anton Ahlgren moved into fourth overall with his 1,312 series. He out-paced his squad by more than 10 pins per game.
William Svensson tallied 1,327, competing in his second squad, as Emma Halttunen shot 1,227 to become the first woman to average north of 200.
A 1,297 series allowed England’s Dan Harding to top Squad 6. He ranked sixth overall after his squad.
The powerful lefty James Blomgren fired 1,317 to pace the 40-player field, while tournament namesake Martin Larsen finished third on the squad with 1,285.
Noel Haglund Torgersen moved into second place with a 1,327 series. Four Swedes led this tournament’s fourth squad with the United States’ Tommie McNeal (1,263) rounding out the top five.
In the U-21 squad, Ondrej Prekop of the Czech Republic paced the field. He started with 270 en route to posting a 1,286 series.
Sweden’s Williams Svensson dominated the second squad. His 1,352 total pinfall was 111 pins better than the next-best player.
Just three players averaged more than 200 in the tournament’s opening squad. Norway’s Anders Johansen led the way, posting a 1,297 six-game series.
