Brian Dennis Earns Day 2 Lead at USBC Senior Masters
Las Vegas, Nevada – When a 228 game is your lowest score out of 10 games while competing at a major championship, you’ve got to be feeling pretty confident. That is the case for Creedmoor, North Carolina resident Brian Dennis who moved into the lead Wednesday at the 2024 USBC Senior Masters.
He followed up Tuesday’s first block of 1,226 with games of 237, 242, 240, 231 and 267 for a 10-game total of 2,443. He sits just five pins ahead of Jason Couch. Behind Couch is Kevin Croucher, Chris Barnes and one of the biggest movers up the leaderboard on the day, defending champion John Janawicz. Janawicz went +253 Wednesday to go from a tie for 51st place to fifth.
“I’m feeling pretty good. I have had a really good ball reaction so far and have executed pretty well up to this point,” Dennis said. “Having the good reaction has allowed me to stay relaxed and just helps build the confidence.”
He has used the same ball for all 10 games feeling like the lanes inside Sam’s Town Bowling Center have played consistent bowling on the double burn and burn. That has allowed him “to just throw the ball and not have to think too much.”
During Wednesday’s qualifying round, Dan Knowlton matched Janawicz’s top block of 1,253 to go from 74th place after day one to seventh place. Parker Bohn III rolled the fifth overall perfect game of the tournament.
The final day of qualifying begins at 11 a.m. Eastern on Thursday as bowlers on the C-squad take to the lanes first followed by the A-squad at 3 p.m. ET and finally the B-squad at 7 p.m. ET. The top 64 players will advance to double-elimination match-play starting on Friday. Watch it all on BowlTV.
