Hayden Stippich Maintains Blistering Pace, Leads PBA Tour Trials After Round 2
Hayden Stippich earned his spot in PBA Tour Trials by leading Monday’s pre-tournament qualifier. Tuesday’s action at Bowlero Woodridge saw more of the same from the two-handed lefty.
Stippich leads the 90-player field after two rounds, totaling 2,900 (+500) for his first 12 of 48 games.
“It's a good start to the week,” Stippich said. “It makes tomorrow a little bit easier. I’ve got some room to play with, but still need to keep my foot on the gas. Everybody here can strike and strike a lot, and I’m expecting that over the next three days. You can’t win it on the first day, but you can give yourself a good setup. It’s going to be a fun week, especially after today.”
Stippich said he used more surface on his ball before the evening round, hitting his urethane ball with 360-grit to help the ball pick up in the mid-lane. His adjustment paid off as he fired games of 279, 195, 276, 300, 248 and 238.
Pete Vergos, Rafiq Ismail, Frank Snodgrass and Brandon Runk, round out the top five. With Stippich, Runk and Anthony Neuer, three Pennsylvania southpaws sit inside the top seven.
Matt Kuba climbed into the all-important 12th place with a strong finish of 258 and 277 to close Round 2.
The top 12 players after Friday’s competition will earn exempt status on the 2025 PBA Tour, which includes priority entry for all 2025 PBA Tour events and eligibility for the PBA Elite League draft.
PBA Tour Trials shifts to Bowlero Randall Road for the third and fourth rounds, beginning at 11 a.m. and 6 p.m. Central (7 p.m. Eastern) on Wednesday.
All rounds of PBA Tour Trials will be livestreamed on BowlTV.
