Lefty Troy Lint strikes it up at USBC Senior Masters
Las Vegas, Nevada – The player with the most impressive backswing on the PBA50 Tour had a huge day Friday during match play at the 2023 USBC Senior Masters.
Lefty Troy Lint noticed if he could break the lanes down the way he needed to and create some angle the pins would fall his way.
"Everything seemed to fall together perfect for me,” he said.
The Pennsylvania native shot 768 and 835 in his two matches inside Sam’s Town Bowling Center to advance in the winners bracket.
“Pretty incredible,” he said, after averaging 267 on the day. “I took some big cover balls and I put a lot of surface on them to dry up a certain part of the lane, and I got really comfortable with creating what I could.”
He knows that Saturday is a whole new day of match play, and he plans to take what the lanes give him.
“I’m going to try to paint my picture and generate the same type of ball motion,” he said. “I’m not going to do anything different until the lanes tell me to and I have no problem jumping out of a game plan if it’s not working. It’s bowling. This is fun to watch and it’s fun to do.”
USBC and PBA Hall of Famer Lennie Boresch Jr. is the highest seeded player remaining in the winners bracket after winning his two matches. He is ready to immediately face familiar foe Pete Weber in his opening match Saturday.
“I have had some really tough matches with him over the last 10 years,” Boresch Jr. said. “I was runner-up to him once and my focus is to give him a good match and see if it can go my way.”
Defending champion Dino Castillo, who led the tournament throughout qualifying, has been eliminated.
Parker Bohn III is still fighting through the contenders bracket. He was in the highest scoring match on Friday winning 773-742 over fellow lefty George Aboud.
There are 16 players left in the winners bracket and 16 players in the contenders bracket. They will all take to the lanes starting noon Eastern on Saturday. All bracket matches are three-game total-pinfall with the winners advancing until the top five are determined for the stepladder finals that will take place 1 p.m. Eastern on Sunday.
