Hammond, Indiana – Left-hander Michael Hartter is thoroughly enjoying his experience on the PBA50 Tour. The Henderson, Nevada resident has cashed in both PBA50 tournaments he has competed in this year, the USBC Senior Masters, and the PBA Senior U.S. Open.

On Tuesday, he shot 248, 258, 226, 266, 269, 215 and 247 for 1,729, an average of 247, to take the lead at the PBA50 South Shore Classic.

“I just had a really great look today,” the 50-year-old said. “I made all of my makeable spares which was the difference, and I had a lot of ball speed which helped a lot.”

The southpaw relied on a Radical Double Cross urethane ball for all seven games. He admits it was a ball somebody recommended to me three or four months ago and it was the right choice for this day at Olympia Lanes. Hartter’s dad, Ernie, use to drill balls out on the Senior Tour during the ‘90s and now Hartter is getting to experience it all for himself.

“I always wanted to do this, and this was definitely on my bucket list when I turned 50,” he said. “I crossed with Brian LeClair. All of these guys I watched while I was in the military and to be able to bowl with them now is a great honor.”

Andrew Rettig was the top bowler on B squad. He rolled 232, 290, 189, 226, 257, 280 and 227 for 1,701.

On Wednesday, B squad will be on the lanes first for seven more games of qualifying starting at 9:30 a.m. Eastern followed by the A squad scheduled to begin at 2:30 p.m. Eastern. After those games are complete, the top 44 players will advance.

Come Thursday, the advancers round will start at 10 a.m. Eastern with five games then the top 24 players will advance to match play with all qualifying pins dropping. Those matches will consist of three game sets with the overall total pins winners moving forward.

Qualifiers 9-24 will begin at 1:30 p.m. ET. Matches will continue until the top five players remain and the stepladder finals will start at 8:30 p.m. Eastern. You can watch all of the action on BowlTV.com.
