THE STORM CUP: David Small’s Kokomo Championship Begins Tomorrow
Kokomo, Ind.—Heritage Lanes hosts THE STORM CUP: David Small’s Kokomo Championship, the second event of THE STORM CUP and fourth of the Guaranteed Rate PBA Tour season. The two-day event will be live streamed exclusively on FloBowling, beginning tomorrow at 11 a.m. ET and culminating with the stepladder finals Wednesday night at 6:30 p.m. ET.
Svensson Holds Early Lead in THE STORM CUP
With his win in THE STORM CUP: David Small’s Best of the Best Championship in Jackson, Mich., Jesper Svensson has the early lead in the chase for THE STORM CUP and the $10,000 bonus for the player with the most competition points over the course of the four events. Svensson led from beginning to end in Jackson and claimed 5,000 points.
The top five players after all four events will receive a bonus, with second place pocketing $5,000, third place $4,000 and fourth and fifth place $3,000 each.
Each THE STORM CUP event begins with 12 games of full-field qualifying, after which the top 24 players bowl four more games to determine the top 16, who bowl two more games to cut to eight. After two more games, the top four players advance to the stepladder finals.

PBA Playoffs Chase Continues
Points earned during THE STORM CUP events also count toward the PBA Playoffs, so there’s a lot at stake for the players trying to get into the top 16. For example, Svensson jumped all the way to seventh in the PBA Playoffs race despite not competing in the Players Championship and finishing 81st in the U.S. Open. The 16 players with the most competition points after the USBC Masters in early April will earn berths into the PBA Playoffs.
Players Looking for First PBA Tour Titles
Multiple prominent players have won their first PBA Tour titles in live-stream exclusives, including EJ Tackett (2015), Jakob Butturff (2016) and both Matthew Russo and Darren Tang last summer. Two would-have-been-first-time-champions, Packy Hanrahan and Nick Pate, finished second and third, respectively, last week.
