SPARTANBURG, S.C. (Feb. 21, 2021) – Mike Byers of Charleston, South Carolina, defeated PBA Hall of Famer Walter Ray Williams Jr. of Oxford, Fla. to win the PBA50 Dave Edwards Toyota Spartanburg Open at Paradise Lanes on Sunday.

Byers, who won $2,300 and his second official career PBA regional title did it in grand fashion doubling in the tenth frame to win the final match against Williams 224-213. Williams pocketed $1,200 as the runner-up.

In the semifinals, Byers defeated Dave Kneas of Annapolis, Md., 264-203, while Williams disposed of Glenn Smith of New York, 255-225.

The tournament drew eighty 50-and-older players. The PBA South Region’s next tournament will be the PBA Coatings Solutions Open on Sunday, Feb. 28 in Brandon, Fla.
