TOWSON, Md.– Jon Van Hees of Hope Valley, R.I., defeated defending champion Brandon Curtis of Manson, N.C., 200-196, to win the PBA AMF Towson Lanes Open at AMF Towson Lanes on Sunday.

Van Hees, who qualified in 4th place, posted a perfect 4-0 match play record on his way to the victory. In the Round of 8, he defeated Anthony Pepe of Long Island City, N.Y. 2-0 before besting qualifying leader Joseph Zagari of Islip Terrace, N.Y. 210-193 in the semi-final match. Zagari had just moved to the adult ranks earlier in the week and bowled in his first PBA event.

For Van Hees, the win was his third career regional title and first since 2007. Van also owns one PBA Tour National title. The win earned Van Hees $3,200 while Curtis earned $1,700 as the runner-up.

Curtiss, the 2020 Towson champion, defeated senior player Rick Graham of Elizabethtown, Pa. 235-202 in the other semi-final match. Zagari and Graham earned $1,250 each.

Next on the PBA East Region schedule is the AMF Country Club Lanes Open in Baltimore, Md. on May 21-23.
