Guaranteed Rate PBA Super Slam Player Spotlight: Kyle Troup
Kyle Troup was the first player to qualify for the PBA Super Slam, banking a quarter of a million dollars by winning the PBA Players Championship to open the 2021 Guaranteed Rate PBA Tour season.
Troup led every round of PBA Players Championship competition. Through 28 games of qualifying, Troup topped the East Region, then defeated Michael Davidson in the East Region Finals to advance to the championship round. Troup then led the three-game seeding round over the other Regional winners to claim the top seed for the stepladder finals. There, Troup defeated Dick Allen to claim the title.
The win was Troup’s seventh career title and first major. On the strength of three top-10 finishes in majors this season, Troup ranks first overall in PBA Playoffs points.
The Guaranteed Rate PBA Super Slam, a special event paying $100,000 to the winner, will feature all five major champions from the 2021 Guaranteed Rate PBA Tour season bowling a single game to determine seeding. The player with the lowest score will be eliminated and the four surviving players will be seeded into the semifinals.
