All five 2021 major champions to battle for $100,000 live on FOX April 18

Chris Via claimed the final berth in the Guaranteed Rate PBA Super Slam when he won the U.S. Open this past Sunday in Reno, Nev.

By defeating Jakob Butturff in the championship match, 214-213, top-seeded Via claimed a major as his first career Guaranteed Rate PBA Tour title. Dating back to the 2020 season, Via has qualified for the stepladder finals in five of the last seven majors. This does not include his appearance in this season’s PBA Players Championship East Region Finals, during which Via rolled the 30th televised 300 game in PBA history as part of a string of 17 consecutive strikes, one short of the record held by Pete Weber and Ryan Shafer.

Via’s win in the U.S. Open moved him up to second in PBA Playoffs points, trailing only his fellow Super Slam competitor, Kyle Troup.

The Guaranteed Rate PBA Super Slam, a special event paying $100,000 to the winner, will feature all five major champions from the 2021 Guaranteed Rate PBA Tour season bowling a single game to determine seeding. The player with the lowest score will be eliminated and the four surviving players will be seeded into the semifinals.
