"It's like the old Marshall Holman again, when I get going I just erupt.. It's like Mt. St. Marshall, I guess," Holman mused after winning his second straight championship in the $100,000 Venice (Fla.) Open. Holman fulfilled a prophecy he made a week earlier in Austin, Texas when he said, "I'm so loose right now I'll probably win another title or two in a very short time." He did just that, firing a 290 in the championship game to oust top qualifier Kent Wagner, who had a 224. Wagner never had a chance as Holman made a solid eight-pin spare in the first frame and then closed with 11 strikes. The championship round got under way with Steve Wunderlich defeating Joe Hutchinson, 264-188, and then toppling George Pappas, 249-200. Wunderlich then ran Into Holman, who knocked him out of the running, 256-234, earning Holman the shot at his second straight title and career win No. 16.
