Quaker State Open

$125,000 QUAKER STATE OPEN
Forum Bowling Lanes, Grand Prairie, Texas, Feb 1-5, 1983

Guppy Snags Sixth

"I've won the Miller Classic, the Molson's Canadian Open, the Kessler Classic and now the Quaker State, even if I don't know much about oil," Guppy Troup grinned. "I'm getting good at winning these 'fluid' tournaments," chortled a happy Troup minutes after winning the $125,000 Quaker State Open, 237-221, against top qualifier Ted Hannahs.

Art Trask won first, ousting Rick Vittone, 195-184, but Trask then lost to Troup, 222-183. Troup's next match with Tom Baker was tense, Troup finally winning, 258-236, to gain his spot in the championship finals against Hannahs and set his sights on the $20,000 first prize.
