Earl Extends Tradition

Earl Anthony made it 13 consecutive years in which he has captured at least one PBA title when he beat Dave Soutar,218-199, to win the $100,000 ARC Alameda Open.

In the title match between the two PBA Hall of Famers, Anthony and Soutar exchanged splits early in the game before Anthony rattled off four straight strikes. Soutar stayed close until Anthony put the match away with strikes in the ninth and 10th frames. It marked Anthony's 37th title and moved the southpaw within $40,000 of reaching the $1 million mark in career earnings.
