Holman won two tough matches against Larry Laub, 236-223, and Ernie Schlegel, 248-225, to earn the right to challenge Roth who had led the tournament for seven straight rounds. When Roth suffered three straight open frames in the title match, Holman claimed the $21,000 first prize, giving him $41,000 and two titles in two weeks.
