Second-year pro Mike Berlin captured his third tour victory of the year when he ran away from Don Bell in the final round of the $60,000 Buzz Fazio Open. Berlin, who won $6,000, started the final session of match play with a slim lead over Bell, the former world-class soccer player seeking his initial tour victory. But Berlin defeated Bell, 209-182, in the opening game of match play and never looked back as he finished with a 128-pin victory over Bell. Berlin's victory capped a remarkable comeback as he qualified for the match play finals in 23rd place. Perfect games were rolled by Pat Malone, Dennis Swayda, Roy Buckley and Ed Ressler. 42-GAME TOTALS | | | Name, City/State | | Pins | | WLT | | + | | Tot | | Amt | | | 1 | | Mike Berlin, Muscatine, Iowa | | 9441 | | 17-7-0 | | 510 | | 9951 | | $6,000 | | 2 | | Don Bell, Santa Maria, Calif. | | 9373 | | 15-9-0 | | 450 | | 9823 | | 3,500 | | 3 | | Curt Schmidt, Ft.
