Mark Roth strong-armed his way to his biggest victory when he won the $100,000 Rolaids Open at Dick Weber Lanes. The 24-year-old right-hander overpowered Larry Laub, 235-202, in the title game to take the $14,000 first prize, as he registered his second PBA career championship. In the game just before the championship, Laub downed Tim Harahan, 286-277, as they matched strikes through the ninth frame. Harahan's 277 was the highest losing score ever on national TV.
