Dave Davis clinched the best year, money-wise, of his career, when he won the $100,000 Brunswick World Open. In beating Johnny Petraglia, 246-190, in the championship game, Davis upped his winnings for 1975 to $65,285. His best previous year had been 1967 when he won six titles and $54,165. Davis led or was near the top most of the way prior to the nationally televised finals, as was Petraglia. The other finalists, Earl Anthony, John Wilcox, and Gary Mage, all began their charges in the third round and were in the heat of battle by the last eight games of match play.
