After four years of trying, Dale Glenn, Los Angeles, Calif., has joined the ranks of Professional Bowlers Association (PBA) champions. Glenn won the $55,000 Columbia 300 Open, taking a thrilling 222-215 win from Matt Surina, Longview, Wash. It was the second straight week that Surina has suffered a narrow defeat. In the championship game Glenn simply wouldn't be denied his long-awaited title. He nursed a six-pin lead into the sixth frame, and then dashed Surina's hopes with a trio of strikes and a spare to clinch the title. Surina and Anthony were one, two after 18 games of qualifying, but Glenn then performed the remarkable feat of winning his first 15 games of match play.
