Larry Laub won the title and Jim Stefanich the plaudits. That was the story as Laub, San Francisco, Calif., won the $60,000 Denver Open, topping Stefanich, Joliet, Ill., 99-191, in the championship game. But that title set-to was almost an anti-climax to the streak staged by Stefanich in the games leading up to his losing effort to Laub. He totalled 815 pins, a record for three games on national television, as he rolled games of 258-278-279 in disposing of three game but out-classed opponents.
