From start to finish Jim Godman, Lorain, Ohio, was the winner of the $100,000 Brunswick World Open. He capped an outstanding week-long performance at Brunswick Northern Bowl in Glendale Heights, Ill., by defeating Roy Buckley, Columbus, 201-171, in the nationally televised finale. The World Open was just that, with 20 bowlers from 13 foreign countries competing, and one of them, Talayuki Ryu, Tokyo, Japan, finished a strong 13th and won $1,600. The victory was worth $14,000 to the Ohio strongboy, and went with his triumph last spring in the $125,000 Firestone Tournament of Champions.
