Fourth PBA Title For Colwell

Paul Colwell strong-armed his way to his fourth career victory at Painesville Lanes in winning the $40,000 Painesville Open.

Although Colwell won only three of his final eight games of match play competition, he had it when he needed it, winning the position-round game from Nelson Burton Jr., 269-195. Colwell's actual and bonus pinfall totalled 10,336 and he averaged 229.999 pins per game for the 42-game tournament. The victory was his second of 1973. He took the $50,000 Starlanes-Ebonite Open at Cranston, R.I., in August and won twice m 1972 while still a sergeant in the U.S. Air Force.
