Mike McGrath's second win of the season was a two-pin thriller over Earl Anthony. He eked out a 216214 victory over Anthony in the finals of the $47,500 Home Box Office at Penn Bowl, and upped his PBA career victory total to nine. The win was his second of the year, following a triumph (also over Anthony) in the $75,000 BPAA U.S. Open last winter in New York. In the championship match, a virtual replay of the finals of the Open, Anthony left an horrendous 6-7-810 split in the first frame, got only one pin on his second ball, and then just simply couldn't catch up throughout the rest of the game. McGrath sat down with his 216 and Anthony's three closing strikes were anti-climatic, leaving him short by two pins.
