Johnson Wins His 17th PBA Crown

In one of the most thrilling finishes ever, Don Johnson defeated Larry Laub for the first place prize of $12,000 in the $85,000 Brunswick World Open. The two first had battled to a 236-236 tie, then Johnson won a two frame rolloff, 39-38, after making a 6-7-10 split. The tournament, cosponsored by Brunswick at Brunswick Northern Bowl, ended the PBA's regular season.
