John Guenther, after having made the finals in two of the previous three tournaments, finally hit the big money when he captured the $27,500 Tucson Squirt Open.

Guenther won 11 of his 16 matches for 550 bonus pins as he fashioned a 9103 total for 40 games. Ted Hoffman, the qualifying leader, was 112 pins behind in second place. Bud Horn rolled a 300 game.

Dick Weber finished fourth to add $1,150 and bring his leading money winning total to $43,020. Wayne Zahn made $1,000 for his seventh place finish. The No. 2 pro in the race now had earned $36,800 on the 1966 tournament trail.
