Houston Easy For Schissler

Les Schissler of Denver took a cue from the previous week's winner, Nelson Burton Jr., as he used the corner shot (first board) to win the Professional Bowlers Association (PBA) $21,000 Houston Open.

In capturing his first PBA title of the year and his second overall, Schissler built a 100-pin lead over the 24-game qualifier and then coasted in, amassing a 336-pin advantage with a final count of 9273. This included 550 bonus pins for winning 11 games in the finals.

Hometown favorite Jack Biondolillo was second and Dick Hoover was third with 8874.

Bill Allen increased his leading money winner status on the 1964 tour by adding $950 for a sixth-place finish. His total was $26,698.
