Brian Voss earned his 13th title and continued his streak of winning at least one tournament every year since 1987 when he captured the $125,000 Active West PBA Open. Voss, of Boca Raton, Fla., defeated Dave Ferraro of Kingston, N.Y., 242-203, in the position round match to become the first player since 1979 to win a title without a televised championship round. Voss finished with a pinfall of 11,715 to edge Kelly Coffman of Topeka, Kan., by 49 pins. Entering the 48th game, Voss led Ferraro by 15 pins with Coffman only 62 pins back in third. Voss opened the final match with five consecutive strikes and then added two more strikes after sparing in the sixth to easily defeat Ferraro. But Coffman wasn't about to let Voss win easily. After failing to convert a 3-6-10 in the second, the 28-year-old then ran off eight strikes in-a-row before finishing with a spare to defeat Pete Weber, 255-225, and garner his fourth career second-place finish with an 11,666 pinfall. The win over Weber ended an up and down week for Coffman. He set a PBA record by one pin when he knocked down 5,826 pins in 24 games of qualifying. Earl Anthony set the old mark in Seattle in 1970. Ferraro finished third (11,631) to earn $7,000 while Dave D'Entremont of Middleburg Heights, Ohio, grabbed fourth (11,604) for $5,500 and Weber of St. Ann, Mo., took fifth (11,586) for $4,500. 48 GAME TOTALS | | | Name, City | | Pins | | Avg | | WLT | | + | | Tot | | Amt | | | 1 | | Brian Voss, Boca Raton, FL | | 11280 | | 235.0 | | 14-9-1 | | 435 | | 11715 | | $18,000 | | #2 | | Kelly Coffman, Topeka, KS | | 11336 | | 236.2 | | 11-13-0 | | 330 | | 11666 | | 9,500 | | 3 | | Dave Ferraro, Kingston, NY | | 11121 | | 231.7 | | 17-7-0 | | 510 | | 11631 | | 7,000 | | 4 | | Dave D'Entremont, Middleburg Hts., OH | | 11214 | | 233.6 | | 13-11-1 | | 390 | | 11604 | | 5,500 | | 5 | | Pete Weber, St. Ann, MO | | 11211 | | 233.6 | | 12-11-1 | | 375 | | 11586 | | 4,500 | | 6 | | Warren Nelson, Fresno, CA | | 11165 | | 232.6 | | 14-10-0 | | 420 | | 11585 | | 4,000 | | #7 | | David Traber, Woodstock, IL | | 11148 | | 232.3 | | 14-10-0 | | 420 | | 11568 | | 3,600 | |   | | B.
