Guenther was one of the most feared bowlers on the lanes and one of the best liked off the lanes during his Touring Pro career in the 1960s and 70s. He collected 11 PBA titles including the 1972 PBA National Championship and was voted the PBA's Steve Nagy Sportsmanship Award winner the first two years after the honor was instituted in 1966. Perhaps Guenther's most famous feat however was the perfect game he tossed during the championship round of the 1969 San Jose Open in front of ABC-TV cameras and millions of viewers. Ranked 45th on 2009 list of 50 Greatest Players in PBA History.
