Hawaiian Triumph To McGrath
Mike McGrath's triumph in the Winston-Salem Invitational in Hawaii, was a fitting climax to a fine year for him. He knocked off four opponents, Curt Schmidt, Larry Laub, Earl Anthony, and finally, Dick Ritger, to win the title and the $3,000 first prize.
The tournament was the third of the year cosponsored by the R. J. Reynolds Tobacco Co., and the second of the three won by McGrath. He had earned his way into the Invitational field by winning the $50,000 Winston-Salem Open at Anaheim, Calif. in June.
