Asher Wears Second Crown
Barry Asher walked off with his second tournament crown of the year with a decisive 191-pin victory in the $27,500 Crescent City Open at Mardi Gras Bowl in New Orleans.
The 19-year-old Santa Ana Junior College freshman totalled 9257 pins for the 40-game tourney. This included 550 bonus pins for his winning 11 of 16 in the match play finals. Jim Godman took second money with 9066.
The New Orleans tournament wrapped up the PBA summer tour. Dick Weber continued to lead the money race with earnings of $48,255. Wayne Zahn rode in second place with $44,670.
