Rhoda Romps At Seattle
Jerry McCoy rolled a 300 game but it was Big Gene Rhoda who stepped front and center to receive the $3,000 first-place check in the Seattle Open.
The 6-3, 225-pound Indiana pro won 11 of his 16 matches in the finals to walk off with a 173-pin victory over second-place Mike Limongello.
Although this was Rhoda's first major tournament victory, it was the second time he had read his name in the headlines. In November of 1964 the big guy set world records for six games (1532) and 12 games (2983) in the PBA Columbus (0.) Open.
