What is XtraFrame?
XtraFrame is the official broadband channel of the Professional Bowlers
Association. In addition to providing on-demand video of the semi-final and
final matches from the Denny's PBA Tour, XtraFrame offers content not available
anywhere else, including selected match play matches and exclusive player
interviews.
What do I need on my PC? What do I do if I'm having a problem?
Windows Media Player- Please make sure that you're using the latest version of
Windows Media Player. Download the latest version of
Windows Media Player from Microsoft.
Video Codecs - If you're having problems viewing video you may need to download
and install the necessary codecs (compression software) on top of your Windows
Media Player. Download the latest codecs for Windows Media Player from Microsoft.
Mozilla Firefox - If you are using the Firefox browser, you may get an error
stating you have an incorrect codec. Most likely, the Windows Media Player
plug-in is misconfigured. Either reinstall the plug-in or change the action for
the ".asx" file type ("video/x-ms-asx" mime-type) to run Windows Media Player
directly.
Playing Windows Media with a Mac
If you are unable to play .wmv files on your mac. Please try the following component.
http://www.microsoft.com/windows/windowsmedia/player/wmcomponents.mspx
This will let you use QuickTime and the Safari Web Browser to play Xtra Frame content.
Firewall Settings
If you have a Firewall (security hardware/software) or any other related
security software running on your PC it may affect your access to the site. You
should consult the manufacturer's manual or contact them directly regarding the
package/hardware configuration.
Improving Stream Quality
-
Playing the correct Video Stream:
The quality of stream largely depends on the connection speed you receive from
your Internet Service Provider. To test your current connection speed please
click
here. Streams are encoded for speeds of 384
kpbs and 768 kpbs.
-
Ensure Player is set correctly:
-
Open Windows Media Player and choose the 'Tools' Menu or click the arrow in the
top right hand corner to see this option
-
Select 'Options'.
-
Choose the 'Performance' Tab.
-
Ensure 'Detect Connection Speed' is set.
-
Ensure 'Use Default Buffering' is set.
-
Click 'OK'.
-
Limitations of broadband:
Please remember that broadband connections are shared by location. This is due
to what is known as the "contention ratio". If many people in your area also
have the same product then you may be sharing the same connection with them.
For these reasons it may be necessary to sometimes attempt to view clips at a
lower quality than you would like.
-
Save bandwidth. Other programs and windows you have open will sap bandwidth from
the stream.
-
Close as many other Internet windows or 'peer to peer' programs as possible.
-
Close as many applications in your service tray (bottom right corner of screen)
as possible to conserve RAM.
