PBA Standard Events
A Standard PBA event utilizes qualifying preliminaries followed by either single elimination or round robin match play. Fifteen of the 20 events in 2006-07 are Standard formats and can be identified by their “Classic” or “Championship” designations.

Dick Weber Open
The Dick Weber Open utilizes a “retro” style tournament features qualifying followed by round robin match play and a traditional stepladder final. PBA members and non-members a like may enter this true “open” event to honor PBA Hall of Famer Dick Weber.

PBA Tournament of Champions
Invitational event conducted since 1965. The field now features 32 PBA champions; including the 28 most recent PBA Tour champions, two PBA Regional Tour major champions and two PBA Senior Tour major champions. Each champions will be seeded randomly into the bracket based on a pre-tournament blind draw.

64th U.S. Open
The U.S. Open is bowling’s longest running and most storied major event. The event was founded in 1942 as the BPAA All-Star, and became the U.S. Open in 1971. Like the USBC Masters, it is open to both amateurs and professionals.

Denny's World Championship
The Denny’s World Championship (PBA National Championship prior to 2002) has been conducted since 1960 and is open exclusively to PBA members. Unique to the event, the top eight players from qualifying get an automatic berth into the Super 16 where they are pitted against the eight remaining bowlers from the preliminary single elimination match play rounds.
