Fresh off his 2014 USBC Senior Masters win, Hall of Famer Walter Ray Williams Jr. will travel to Brentwood, Calif., to try for his third consecutive win in the PBA50 Northern California Classic presented by MOTIV.

Williams, whose Senior Masters win was his first PBA50 major title and eighth of his career, will be among an expected field of more than 90 players who will return to Harvest Park Bowl in Brentwood June 15-18 for the sixth stop of the season.

The Northern California Classic will be streamed live in its entirety via PBA’s online bowling channel Xtra Frame beginning with Monday morning’s first qualifying round.

Williams, the two-time defending PBA50 Player of the Year, defeated amateur Pete Thomas in a thrilling championship match in 2013 that resulted in a 223-223 tie and then Williams going on to win in the two-frame rolloff 20-19.  In 2012, Williams defeated Hugh Miller in the title match 248-231.

“That was a little more exciting than I wanted it to be,” said Williams after the title match. “It was kind of a reflection of how tough all my matches were. None of them were easy which made it a tough day but all the more rewarding in the end.”

Williams, got to the championship match by defeating Kevin Croucher, 259-203, in the semifinals. Thomas defeated Hall of Famer Dale Eagle, 248-224, in the other semifinal match.

In addition to Williams a host of other Hall of Famers will be competing in Brentwood including Johnny Petraglia, Parker Bohn III, Wayne Webb, Pete Weber, Amleto Monacelli, Dale Eagle and four-time PBA50 Player of the Year Tom Baker.

Two-time PBA50 Player of the Year Ron Mohr of Las Vegas will be trying for his second Northern California Classic title after winning the tournament in 2011.

Competition begins with eight-game qualifying rounds on Monday June 16 and Tuesday June 17 beginning at 8 a.m. PT.  The top 24 players will advance to match play on Wednesday June 18 beginning at 8 a.m. and culminating with the championship rounds at 5:30 p.m. Practice and pro-ams will be conducted on Sunday, June 15 beginning at 9 a.m.
