Q. What is the format for each event?

A. Qualifying and match play rounds for the Winter Swing events will be held Jan. 22-25. Each event will consist of eight qualifying games with the top 16 advancing to the nine-game modified round-robin match play round. The top two after completion of match play will advance to the championship match which will be taped by ESPN along with stepladder rounds of the PBA League on Jan. 26 and 27.

Q. What events in the PBA Detroit Winter Swing am I able to enter?

A. PBA full members may enter the Carmen Salvino, Mark Roth, Don Carter and Earl Anthony Players Championship.

Q. What is the entry fee?

A. The PBA has put together an affordable entry fee package of $600 that includes all four Winter Swing Tour tournaments. Tournaments cannot be entered individually.

Q. How many spots are available for PBA full members?

A. The total field will be limited to 125 players but 67 will be available to PBA full members, so you need to enter soon because it is anticipated that spots will fill fast. Spots already filled are reserved for members of the eight PBA League teams (48), and ten PTQ spots.

Q. There is a Pro Tour Qualifier associated with the Detroit Swing. Who can enter that event?

A. A non-member PTQ will be held on Jan. 19 which will consist of eight games with the top ten earning spots in the Winter Swing regular field. However, if all PBA member entries are filled for the Winter Swing events, any full PBA member on the waiting list will be allowed to enter the non-member PTQ to compete for one of the ten available spots.

Q. What is the entry fee for the Winter Swing PTQ?

A. The entry fee for the PTQ is $200.  Also, there is no separate prize fund for the PTQ.

Q. I’ve heard about the new PBA League. Can I enter that?

A. Unfortunately, no. The 48 participants in that event who will also compete in the individual Winter Swing events have already been determined through a draft process that was conducted as part of the recent World Series of Bowling in Las Vegas.

Q. What is the prize structure for the four individual Winter Swing events?

A. The Carmen Salvino, Mark Roth and Don Carter Classics will each pay a $15,000 first prize and a 32-place prize list ($700 last-to-cash). The Earl Anthony Players Championship will pay a $25,000 first prize and a 42-place prize list ($1,000 last-to-cash).

Q. Are the Winter Swing events televised?

A. Yes, the championship match of the four Tour events will be taped on Jan. 26 and 27 and are part of the ESPN PBA Tour telecast schedule.
