Oil Pattern
PBA World Championship
The PBA World Championship Pattern is similiar to Pattern D from the 2002-2003 PBA Tour Season. The condition allows the players to play multiple angles depending on the type and condition of the lane surface. This design puts a premium on shot making and keeping the ball in play.
The champion on the PBA Denny's World Championship Pattern is:
Walter Ray Williams Jr. (Indianapolis, IN)
*NOTE: Pattern choice is subject to change.

Regional Players Championship Announcement
The Regional Players Championship (RPC), one of two PBA Regional Tour majors, will be held at Thunderbowl in Allen Park, Mich., May 28-31, 2010. The RPC itself, which is open to “non-exempt” PBA members, will have a $295 entry fee and a projected first prize of $8,000 PLUS a paid entry into the prestigious 2011 PBA Tournament of Champions.
PBA World Series and PBA World Championship Details
There is no longer a World Series Tour Trials. Instead any PBA member can enter the World Series for $750. The PBA World Series of Bowling will be combined into one multi-stage event, much like cycling’s Tour de France. There will be an overall winner (the PBA World Champion) along with daily “stage” winners. Here’s how it will work:
The 2010 PBA World Series of Bowling is scheduled for Oct. 24 –Nov. 06 at South Point in Las Vegas.
The new World Series is open to any PBA member. The format will consist of five one-day qualifying rounds, 12 games on each of the five animal patterns (Cheetah, Viper, Scorpion, Chameleon, Shark). Each animal pattern event will include its own prize fund, including a $15,000 first prize and $1,800 for last-to-cash (16th place). The top five in each animal pattern event will advance to a PBA Tour ESPN telecast which will be taped for delayed broadcast at the conclusion of the World Series.
The five World Series “qualifying events” will be the foundation for the final standings in the PBA World Championship. The top 1/3 of the field based on total pins for all five daily events will cash, with a last-to-cash payment of $2,000. The top 8 in this group will have a shot at the $50,000 PBA World Championship first prize. These eight will advance to a unique three-day “stepladder final” that will be televised live on ESPN’s family of stations at a time to be announced.

Important RPC Notice
Due to a smaller number of entries than usual (currently 168) for the 2010 RPC event, paying 64 places would exceed the 1:3 cash ratio and as a result the number of finalists will be adjusted to 32. This adjustment will help keep the basic prize fund payoff intact for the players finishing in the top 1/3 of the field.
With this revision, players finishing in the cash positions, which have been the traditional RPC finals positions (33-64), will receive $600. This amount is equal to the normal RPC finals payoff and better than the $500 guarantee for last cash. In other words if entries remain at the current level (168), 33rd-56th place will receive a check for $600.
Furthermore, should the entries stay at the current level (168), 32nd place will pay $750, which provides a better guaranteed minimum check for all finalists than in prior RPC events. 1st Place will pay $7500, plus a paid entry into the PBA Tournament of Champions.
If entries should increase to allow for 64 finalists before the start of the event, we will notify players at Thunderbowl during roll call and the necessary adjustments to the prize fund and format will be made.
