David Ozio disposed of four opponents, including top-seeded Mike Durbin, 198-153, to capture the $115,000 Tucson Open title and gained a little revenge along the way. Durbin had routed Ozio, 259-184, en route to the 1982 Tucson Open championship. After tough wins over Jim Tilton (205-188) and Guppy Troup (257-233), Ozio had a relatively easy time in his final two matches. Randy Pedersen opened in three of his first six frames and Ozio coasted to a 192-153 decision. Durbin left 4-9 splits in the third and seventh frames and missed a 10-pin in the eighth to take all of the pressure off Ozio in the title game. Despite missing a four-pin in the third frame, Ozio put Durbin away with three strikes in the 10th frame.
