Brothers-in-law Mike Aulby and Steve Cook defeated Jeff Bellinger and Tom Milton, 224-209, to capture the $125,000 Showboat PBA Doubles Classic. It was an emotional moment for Cook, who rolled a clutch strike in the 10th frame to seal the victory. The win was his eighth PBA title and his first since winning the 1983 Touring Players Championship. To reach the title match, Bellinger and Milton routed Mark Baker and Joe Berardi, 244-204, and David White and Dennis Jacques, 236-194. In the opening game, Baker, who was making his third championship round appearance in four weeks, and Berardi stopped Randy Pedersen and Warren Nelson, 207-184.
