Mark Roth and Don Genalo bowl in the King Louie Open as though they own the tournament. Genalo won the $130,000 event for the second time in three years while Roth, who has won it three times previously, finished third. Genalo defeated his doubles partner and friend, Jim Miller, 258-246, to pick up the first prize of $21,000 and record his fourth PBA title. In the first game, Roth survived a 232 tie with Baker by winning a two-frame roll-off, 50-38. He then ousted Bellinger, 227-217, but in the semifinal match with Miller, Roth ran out of strikes and lost, 211-208, setting up the title mach between Genalo and Miller. An opening four bagger gave Genalo an early 30-pin lead, but It dwindled to 20, then 10, and Miller finally drew even in the sixth frame before Genalo strung together four more strikes for the high-scoring, close victory.
