The top three money winners of 1984 - Mark Roth, Marshall Holman and Pete Weber - finished win, place and show in the season-ending $150,000 Angle Touring Players Championship. Roth all but clinched Sporting News PBA Player of the Year honors by stopping Holman 194-177, in a hard-fought title game. His fourth victory of the year boosted Roth's earnings to $158,712, nearly $40,000 more than that accumulated by Holman, who led the Tour in average. Third-place Weber defeated Rickie Sajek, 230-215, and Dale Eagle, 200-167. The semifinal game was a heart-stopper as Holman struck in the 10th frame to decision Weber, 206-204. With the conclusion of the second annual TPC, eight players had gone past $100,000 in earnings for the year. It was the 32nd PBA championship for Roth, who had been previously named PBA Player of the Year in 1977, '78 and '79.
