George Pappas achieved a lofty career goal when he collected his 10th PBA title in the $110,000 Buffalo Open. The veteran Pappas eliminated Bob Chamberlain, 237-194, Ron Bell, 237-233, and Mark Roth, 226-177, to earn a shot at the title. From there he struck in eight of the first nine frames to defeat top-seeded Brian Voss, 253-220. The winner totaled 953 for four games. One of the Tour's most consistent money winners over the past 15 years, Pappas became the 25th man In PBA history to win 10 or more titles. Among his previous titles was the 1970 Buffalo Open when he won $6,000, compared to $15,000 for his 1984 effort.
